Hello lovely ladies and lads! (too corny?) Welcome to The Lovely Digest blog! It has been a lifetime goal that I start and keep up a blog one day and now that day has finally come. I am so excited to share lifestyle, fashion, and food tips and tricks with you all. What was once a dream is now my greatest mission: to build a community of creatives, and now, crohnies!

If you’re coming from my instagram, @thelovelydigest, welcome! If not, you might need some background on why I’m starting this and who I am. My name is Emily and I graduated last year with a BFA in Industrial Design and a minor in Environmental Science. I live in beautiful New England, and I love long walks on the beach … but seriously. 😉 I love thrifting, refurbishing furniture, painting, fashion, and baking. Occasionally I work as a second photographer at weddings, am a part time graphic and branding designer, and spend all my free time with horses. I’m curious about a lot and always have my head in a good book.

In February 2020 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. It hit me out of nowhere. I have no family members or friends with the disease, and the diagnosis left me feeling a bit lonely. Don’t get me wrong, I have an amazing support system and my boyfriend, the love of my life, by my side, but I feel like I’m missing out on a little community of my own. The Lovely Digest  is the manifestation of my dream to share my journey after being diagnosed with a chronic, lifelong illness.

Essentially I am doing some good ol’ soul searching for some fellow crohnies. Don’t worry if you aren’t one and you’ve stumbled along to this blog, because boy do I have a lot to share! If you do have Crohn’s, please stick around … I can pay you in funny videos and articles.

My goals and imagination are too big for my own good, but I just want to take a minute to write down what I envision this website blossoming into … so you can know what to expect on here, but mostly to hold myself accountable and so I can achieve my dreams!

1. I want this site to always feel like your favorite middle school club. The one all your bff’s were in, had the best snacks (Gushers please), and made you talk your mom’s ear off the whole way home about how you wanted to build your own dreamcatcher making business. (But in this case maybe it’s just a really good sugar free Crohn’s friendly cake recipe you want your mom to try.)

2. I want to fill this site with amazing recipes, how-tos, exercises, and activities that are simple to accomplish on your worst days, but still enjoyable on your good ones.

3. Build a freaking awesome community of, “Flareless Crohnie’s,” kicking butt (sometimes our own), lifting each other up, and taking the world by storm.
