Listen to the PODCAST
Hello lovelies and welcome back to the podcast. Today I wanted to chat about my first remote Reiki experience. I am a huge skeptic when it comes to spiritual practices because I grew up Christian and I am a Christian, but also because I see a lot of spiritual practices being used as a bypass rather than doing the important subconscious work. For example, I don’t love anything that involves future predicting because oftentimes it gives this sense of licensing that your future is predetermined. If you do the work to reprogram your brain subconsciously through meditation and growth exercises, then you have the power to change your narrative, it’s just all about how much work you put into it.
Reiki was something I was open to experiencing. I do believe that the body stores an immense amount of energy and that it’s important to clear out and move this energy daily through exercise, what we eat and who and what we surround ourselves with. Meditation is also a great way to move energy in the body. Reiki, in my experience and opinion, is just one of many ways to visualize the energy that gets stored in the body. The reason I believe in Reiki is because I’ve seen the power of prayer and what focused prayer for a person can do to move energy and make things happen in that person’s life. This remote Reiki session was pitched to me in that I would be sitting alone in my room while someone prayed over me from afar and visually and mentally moved the energy in my body.
My experience was overall quite positive. In hindsight, I wished I had done more to mentally prepare for how emotional it could be, as I’ve lost several close loved ones and I knew she was going to be able to pick up on that. I didn’t speak to her about my life beforehand, she just called me and let me know I needed to stay seated and if I was ready, she would get started. She called me afterward to check in and give me some messages from my loved ones, which were very specific and on point for what I needed to hear in that moment. She let me know I am a really fast manifestor, which is great, but to curate my life so that I’m surrounded by joy and to mind my thoughts and practice good mental hygiene. While I don’t believe we manifest from our thoughts alone, as our lives would be pure chaos if this happened, it was very encouraging to hear that I have the power to make progress if I put in the work.
One tip I would have is that if you do try Reiki, make sure you completely trust the practitioner. When someone prays over you and puts that much energy into thinking about you, you want to make sure they also practice good mental and emotional hygiene and are only going to be sending you good thoughts and peace and love while they work on you, remote or in person. This person I worked with came recommended through my therapist, so I trusted her a lot.
Assignment
Your assignment this week is to move the energy in your body mentally through meditation. Try a chakra healing meditation and see how it feels – if you don’t like it, you don’t have to do it again! I just love trying new experiences and adding that memory to my memory bank. As one of my great mentors always says, “the greatest teacher is life itself.”
