Welcome to the blog, a journal about health, wellbeing and life. Stay awhile and say hello!
Listen to the PODCAST
A big expander in my life is Rosie Huntington Whiteley. Her calming, sexy, and simultaneously “take no shit” approach to her career and life drew me in. How does one of the most beautiful women in the world balance a highly successful career and manage to look so good while doing it? Let’s break down her beauty routine.
Recently on a podcast I heard Rosie talking about how she has acne-prone skin. Naturally, as someone who has been plagued by bad acne in recent years, my interest piqued. I’ve struggled with feeling my skin is totally out of my control. I also have been teasing out a subconscious belief I can’t be an entrepreneur AND have good skin/perfect health. So to hear the face of Rose Inc. manages acne instantly made me feel seen and I wanted to learn more about her beauty routine.
While stalking her Instagram profile, I found links to her favorite beauty products. (Lacy Phillips of To Be Magnetic recommends this in order to connect with Expanders.) I was thrilled to see some very affordable options, including the brand Pipette. Rosie was using the Pipette overnight mask on her Youtube channel from a few years ago. To me this is a sure sign it works wonders if she’s been using it for a few years! A few weeks after seeing it on her Instagram, I stumbled across their eye gel and overnight face mask in Marshalls… Fate? Manifestation? I immediately picked them up and have been loving the feeling of luxury the products have brought into my routine.
Rose Inc.’s beauty channel on Youtube is a great place for diving into what Rosie uses in her skincare routines. In her video titled, “In My Bathroom: Rosie’s Skin-Brightening Night Routine,” she mentions during lockdown, she really missed her facials by Biba. Her solution: recreating them herself at home, as, “it’s important for acne-prone skin to resurface and exfoliate.” She mentions a few products she’s been using for years. One product that caught my attention was her steamer. She uses the wildly popular Vanity Planet facial steamer. This reminded me of how my mom and grandma taught me to steam: above a good ol’ bowl of hot water. I will say this trick works WONDERS and really opens the pores to prepare the skin for any products you apply afterwards.
Rosie also mentions a few websites in her video, “Acne-safe skin care regimen from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.” You can check ingredients and learn more about the products you’re using at sites such as www.acneclinicnyc.com and https://www.bibalosangeles.com/pages/pore-clogger-checker.
For skincare tools, Rosie talks about the Environ roller. While I would love to try this someday, it’s not on my spending list right now. Instead I take a dry brush and gently make short upward motions across my skin. This has worked wonders for my skin and helping to soften fine lines created by my acne scars.
Another important aspect of beauty is makeup. What we put on our skin, and stays there for the entire workday, influences how our skin looks in the following days. In this video, Rosie dives into what clean beauty means and how it changes from country to country. Essentially, she says, “clean beauty is defined by what is considered non-toxic.” It seems the key to good skincare is using product that at the minimum doesn’t irritate the skin, and at the most, can help it thrive.
While I still have my researching to do on how she juggles it all: motherhood, her multi-faceted career, and her beauty routine, I’m definitely going to start implementing her tips into my own beauty routine. I recently went to the dermatologist and put myself on a waiting list for Fraxel laser treatments. While each treatment is more than my rent, I’ve been dreaming about saying goodbye to the scars that remind me daily of being very sick. I also feel at peace and ready to make the plunge. Otherwise, I think I’ll stick with some of the more tangible, cost-effective treatments! Thank you, Rosie, for being so vulnerable and sharing your tips!
