Although I’m in remission from Crohn’s Disease, anytime I go through a period of stress or excitement, my body drastically changes. I feel as though my system is much more sensitive post-Crohn’s symptoms and I’m so grateful for how in-tune it’s made me! As we slowly start to transition out of covid-life, most of us will be bombarded with change. While finally getting to travel, see family members, and go back into work will be, for the most part haha, so exciting, it might be a lot of change for us. After all, our bodies and minds are now probably quite used to being secluded at home with minimal outside stimuli.
So how can you prepare for the changes to come? Below are a few ways I’ve been adjusting to the good changes starting to happen in my life:
Be conscious of how you spend down time.
Opt to meditate or read instead of binge watching that show!
Beware of multi-tasking.
Multi-tasking is a sure fire way to make me really scatterbrained and anxious. I like to focus in on one task at a time. Being present with each task helps me achieve my goals for the day a lot faster. Oftentimes the more I’m present, the more I get done.
Take baby steps!
Remember those SMART goals? If not, see that post here. Biting off more than you can chew can lead to overwhelm and probably dropping the task all together. Small, consistent steps are better than none!
Say no.
If it doesn’t serve you, just say no. Saying no is an easy way to show the universe, and yourself, that you’re ready to show up for yourself. While saying yes can be liberating and exciting, sometimes in periods of stress, saying no is more beneficial to your mental health.
Reinforce deservingness.
New job? More clients? New anything? Make sure you’re reinforcing that subconscious belief that you deserve it, because you do! Now’s not the time to be caving and questioning yourself. If it feels right, let it come, journal all the emotions, show gratitude, and thank yourself for leveling up in the world!
Just a reminder that you can do anything and you deserve to be authentically you!
